Spanish Pattern Frame

Spanish Pattern Picture Frame

Description

The Spanish pattern was one of the later desk set patterns created by Tiffany Studios, as price catalogues of the time indicated they were available in the late 1920s.  This is 20 years later than the first desk set items of the late 1890s. The Spanish pieces are sculptural and detailed, with the main motif being medieval ornamentation interwoven with fantastical animals and symmetrical designs.  This frame is embellished with a male bust in a medallion and two winged dragon-like creatures.  The Spanish pattern was produced in gilt bronze, this frame has a gold dore finish. Stamped: TIFFANY STUDIOS/NEW YORK/1892.  Height: 11-3/4". Width: 8-1/2".
